Swerve is an AI character chat and interactive fiction app. Users discover characters, create their own persona, and chat one-on-one or in groups. Stories unfold around what users say and do. The app is available on iOS for adults aged 18 and older.
For character chat apps, short-form content has to make a text-based experience feel worth trying. A feature list alone is hard to stop for. Swerve’s creative made the pitch personal: the relief of finally finding an alternative to an app viewers already knew.
The challenge in AI character chat is showing why someone should switch. Memory, conversation limits, and interruptions are specific concerns, but they are not immediately visual benefits.
Swerve’s videos addressed that challenge by naming Character.AI directly and putting a real person’s reaction beside the pitch. Viewers could recognize the category, understand the claimed difference, and see an emotional reason to care without watching a product walkthrough.
Swerve used 16 real human UGC clips from DansUGC, pairing creator reactions with text-led pitches. The featured videos used reactions rather than app demos. The text carried the product argument, while the creator gave viewers an emotional cue.
The repeatable workflow was simple: pair a real reaction with a specific switching reason, keep the text visible while the expression plays out, and put the app name either in the overlay or the caption. Swerve varied the emotional delivery and wording without changing that basic structure.
The videos that worked: the format, the hook and the concept behind each one.
